Vaidehi, Angela and Taylor presenting Mount Gravatt High School Principal Mr Richard Usher with the $1,000 cheque.
On 15 August, 9 students from Year 8 participated in the Aurecon Bridge Building Competition South East Queensland which was held at St Laurence’s College, South Brisbane. Mount Gravatt High entered 3 teams. The competition was open to Year 8 and 9 students in Australia, and Year 9 and 10 students in New Zealand and in 2017, was held in seven locations. Using materials supplied by Aurecon, students were tasked with designing and constructing a model bridge using construction guidelines provided. Ms Newlands supervised the teams and provided guidance when required.
On the day, the bridges were load tested and assessed for visual appeal, workmanship, innovation, creativity and functionality.
We are so pleased to announce that Team 3, consisting of Taylor Zwisler, Angela Wu and Vaidehi Patel, were the winners of the ‘All-rounder Award’ which earned them a prize of $100 each and a cheque for  $1000 for the school.
