STEM - Program of Excellence

STEM Program of Excellence
Purpose and Goals
STEM Education is seen as a priority for Australia to build, retain and foster creativity. The Mount Gravatt High STEM Program of Excellence aims to enhance STEM subjects through: inquiry-based learning, problem solving activities, developing critical thinking skills, increased participation in extra-curricular activities and increased participation in STEM subjects for all students, but especially for girls and indigenous students.

Mount Gravatt High STEM Program of Excellence caters for Year 7 to 12 students by offering a wide variety of innovative, academically challenging and inspiring learning opportunities and pathways within the curriculum and with tertiary and other STEM organisations.  Students who participate in the program are provided with the opportunity to participate in a STEM class to further develop their interest, skills and abilities in STEM. Students accepted into the STEM Program of Excellence receive an honour badge and select events to participate in for their year level. At the end of the year the students are presented with certificates that recognise their participation in the various STEM activities.
