On Thursday 11 June Mount Gravatt High Principal, Ross Robertson, signed a Sister-School Agreement with Tokyo City University Shiojiri High School Principal Mr Miura. The ceremony took place via Microsoft teams platform.
Sister-school partnerships are aimed at; broadening students' perspectives, developing students' intercultural understanding, enhancing student language learning, contributing to a whole school program of internationalization building teacher capacity. Mrs Rachel Uematsu, one of our senior Japanese teachers, has lead the establishment of this arrangement with her efforts resulting in a signing ceremony hosted on the Microsoft Teams platform with Mr Miura, the Principal of the Tokyo City University High School and his team. It is envisaged that the partnership established by this agreement will enable activities such as; pen pal email links, class-based video conversations, survey questionnaires for exchange of general youth topics, sharing of educational information and resources, sharing items of cultural interest and study tour plans with preparation for homestay for visiting groups. This is an exciting opportunity for our students and I thank Rachel for her excellent leadership in regards to this partnership.
