Elective with off-site options

Students not wishing to participate in competitive sporting activities (interschool sport) may select an elective with off-site options being at extra cost. Options include: fitness, ten pin bowling, mini-golf, ice skating, Skyzone, rock climbing or a school-based sport (e.g. basketball, netball, volleyball, soccer, touch football etc).

Inter-house carnivals

Three major inter-house carnivals are held annually - Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics.  Emphasis is placed on student participation and building school spirit. A range of novelty events are included for maximum involvement by students and staff.  Participation rates are very high and all students are expected to attend whole day events in the school sporting calendar. These are not optional attendance days.

Representative Sport

Students wishing to participate at a representative level have the opportunity to do so through Qld School Sport. Students who perform well at the three school carnivals, then have an opportunity to compete at the district level. From here, students are encouraged to trial for Metropolitan East Sport and beyond. In addition to athletics, swimming and cross country, students have the opportunity to trial for sports including, but not limited to; football, basketball, baseball, golf, triathlon, volleyball and many more. These trials are communicated to students throughout the year depending on the sport. Students are encouraged to check their emails regularly for information and are encouraged to chat to the sports coordinator in the Health Sciences staffroom.

District Sport

Students are able to compete at higher levels within School Sport Australia framework for a range of sport. Throughout the year, Mr Hobson emails all students about these opportunities to trial for the district team. Please keep an eye out for his emails or see him in E05 if you have any questions.
