​​​Mount Gravatt High's Guidance Officers are available to assist students and parents with their concerns.  Guidance Officers provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family, and mental health and wellbeing issues. 

​Guidance Officer Appointments​​​

Appoin​tments can be booked direct with Guidance Officers via the Book Now button below. 
During most lunch breaks, the Guidance Officers are open for student walk-in questions and advice.

Guidance Officers Daniel Wilson, Diane Glassington and Tess Varipatis are available to assist students with concerns about their schooling, whether looking at personal, school-based interactional solutions or out-of-school solutions.

Discussions may include course selection, further study and careers, and/or personal/interpersonal difficulties. Parents may accompany students to interviews.

Guidance Officers are registered teachers with a Master's Degree in Counselling and Career Development. Mr Wilson, Ms Glassington and Ms Tess Varipatis are able to provide the school community:

  • Entrance to University or TAFE
  • Choosing Subjects
  • Friends and Relationships
  • Teasing and Bullying
  • Schoolwork and Stress Management
  • Grief, Loss, Anger, Anxiety and Depression
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Sleeping or Eating Problems
  • Family Hassles

Here To Help

Guidance Officers are trained to carry out:

  • Confidential counselling for careers and personal issues
  • Conflict resolution and mediation
  • Meetings with teachers, parents and other professionals to arrange help for students
  • Management of critical incidents and emergencies.

​The Guidance Officers can also refer you to the right person for expert advice.​Confidentiality

Guidance Officer counselling is confidential, which means that we don’t tell anyone else. The only exceptions to this are:

  • If you ask us to tell someone else for you, or get someone else to help
  • If someone is in danger​
