The Music EDGE Program offered at Mount Gravatt High is a selective entry program open to students who have been accepted for Year 7 in 2025. Music EDGE is one of MGH's signature programs in Junior Secondary.
Year 7 Music EDGE is a one (1) year course. Please note that students can be in both Music EDGE and IM EDGE. These are complementary programs that work together to extend students musically. Entry into the Year 7 Music EDGE class is dependent upon the availability of places.
In Term 1, students develop practical skills on both keyboard and guitar. Term 2 sees students learn to create their own original composition using notation software. The year culminates in a performance project that leads to a live or virtual class performance. A multi-disciplinary excursion to QPAC backstage, QAG and/or Sparklab also helps support and extend students' learning.
Entry into the Music EDGE cohort is based on merit. Music EDGE candidates undertake an application process to be considered for this program.
