The Visual Art EDGE Program offered at Mount Gravatt High is a selective entry program offered to students in Years 7 and 8. Visual Art Academic EDGE is one of the Junior Secondary signature programs and operates over two years.
The program engages students in challenging and supportive environment that is based on the Australia Curriculum with the scope for extension and extra-curricular activities in an inquiry rich environment. Each year of the Visual Art EDGE program has a different structure.
The Visual Art EDGE program provides a high challenge, low-risk environment for students to deepen their aesthetic understanding and extend their practice:
- Greater focus on the cognitions of Implement, Create, Experiment, Evaluate, Justify, Apply, Realise, and Analyse and Interpret
- Extension opportunity: Term 2 Exhibition
- Enrichment opportunity: Term 1 Experience Day at GOMA
- Artist in Residence workshops
Entry into Year 8 Visual Art EDGE and Year 9 Visual Art EDGE is by invitation only, and is based on students' achievements for the previous year or semester in that subject. Performance in 8 EDGE Visual Arts is reviewed each semester. Students must retain a high standard of achievement, effort and behaviour to remain in the program.
